About

Welcome to my Portfolio/Blog!

My name is Paul Anton Rae Aguilar!

As you can see, I have this desire to create experiences, in the form of games, for other people. I want to create games that nurture and cultivate their being. For short, I want to give them life changing experiences. Maybe for some, games may just be a form of entertainment. But I believe in meaningful fun!

Now, I'm focusing on improving my skills in different aspect of game development. Although, I consider myself as a Game Designer, I still believe that having knowledge in the programming and art pipeline is necessary for me to be able to communicate with the people in the production.

Also, with my experience in the game production pipeline, I've become more interested with tools that increase the efficiency of game designers in doing their tasks. These kinds of tools enables them to focus more on experimentation which opens up more time to discover better ideas.

These are my known skills/toolset as of now:
  • Creating Game Design Documents
  • Project Management with Asana, Trello, and Google Sheets
  • Knowledgeable in Unity Level Editor
  • Knowledgeable in Unreal 4 Level Editor
  • Substantial knowledge in C++, C#, and LUA
  • Knowledgeable in producing assets using Photoshop, Maya, Substance Painter, Bitmap2Material
  • Was able to Animate 3D Models using Maya

Work Experience

After my last term in college, I was able to acquire a Junior Game Designer job at Xurpas, Inc.. Here, I am given tasks to make and coordinate design decisions with the production team. I've been also creating levels and game contents using in-engine level editors.

I was also able to get my internship at Xurpas, Inc.. As a Game Design Intern, I've been tasked in supporting productions by creating game design documents, testing games, and creating pitches for new game ideas.

I was able to work part-time on a start-up company called "Aardvark Games". There, I served as a game designer. The responsibility of creating the game design document and giving some sort of vision on how the game should look like was given to me. Also, modifications on the gameplay aspect and visual guides (flowchart, matrices) were assigned to me to help in the development process.

Student Life

As a student, I was given the opportunity to serve as a Student Leader under the Gamers Union for Innovation and Leadership Development (GUILD). I specifically took the position of a Treasurer as of SY. 2014-2015. This is a significant experience for me in college as it allowed me to increase my ability to talk to different sorts of people. Also, I learned how to manage the budget of an organization through constant monitoring. I was able to manage some projects with the help of the other org officers during my stay.
